In 1995, Blythe founded her own toy and media company, Primordial LLC, where she served as both Director of product development as well as overall brand manager. The company was acquired in the fall of 2000.

Blythe has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Stanford University where she was granted a scholarship award in product design as well as a Golden Grant award in the Humanities. After graduating from Stanford, she went on to study accessories design as a visiting artist at Parsons School of Design in Paris.
